What is RoHS?
EU Directive 2011/65/EU, Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment (EEE), was enacted to further enhance the prevention of hazardous substances from entering the production process, thereby keeping them out of the waste stream.

Why is it important?
RoHS is a European Directive aiming to control the use of certain hazardous substances in the production of new electrical and electronic equipment. It is a partner directive to the WEEE Directive (Waste in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) that controls the disposal and recycling of EEE.

Additional information can be found on several European government sites. Two very useful sites are listed and linked below:

Allied Electronics is aware of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, commonly referred to as RoHS, and we are committed to helping our customers comply with applicable RoHS reporting requirements.

As a distributor of electronic, electromechanical, and related components, we do not design, manufacture, or control the content of any of the products that we sell. Therefore, we rely upon our manufacturer partners to advise us as to the RoHS compliance status of products we distribute. In the interest of making this information easy to obtain, Allied publishes the RoHS status of products on our website at www.alliedelec.com. Allied will endeavor to provide RoHS-compliant products as requested and available. Additionally, where possible, Allied provides the RoHS status of purchased products on the packing slip, which is provided with each shipment.

Upon request, we are happy to provide customers with an Allied RoHS letter detailing the RoHS compliance status of specific products we distribute as advised by our manufacturers. Requests for specific RoHS information should be directed to pat.hasty@alliedelec.com. Please provide part(s) lists, including the Allied and/or manufacturer's part numbers, with such requests.
