Overview

All models are available in voltage ranges from 24 to 240 Volts. They differ only in timing ranges and how the times are set. There is no need to observe polarity with any of this series. Ten volt maximum drop across. 438USAI and 438USAI-2. The timing period is set by connecting a resistor across the center two terminals. A jumper across the timing terminal produces a one second delay, add 10K per second to increase time. 438USA, 438USAI, 438USA-INT, 438USA-PIN, 438USAF. All timing is set by the binary coded DIP switch, which has ten programmable switches enabling the time to be easily set over the entire timing range. 438UP. Timing is controlled by a sealed potentiometer.

Pros: I bought one of these modules used at a ham fest. I’ve used it with enthusiasm since! Once for an intermittent air mover, once for a similar heater application and for a signal lamp(s) flasher. I’ve also recommended this product to production engineers over the years - it’s inexpensive, very flexible and simple to program and look at the wide voltage range - from low 24VDC to 240VAC. All you need is a voltage and an application and you’re good to go! Good module, great price.
Cons: If I was to redesign this product, Id add 12VDC low end capability and raise the current rating to say, 5 Amps. Id also drop the low end time period to parts of a second; after all, it can chop at a 60 Hz rate with the proper circuitry.
Other thoughts: none; good product.
