The DURIS S5 series of LEDs, from Osram Opto Semiconductors, are compact mid-power LEDs with a 3 x 3mm footprint. Constructed from highly robust synthetic material resistant to the aging caused by high temperatures and short-wave blue light; These latest additions to the DURIS LED family feature three different levels of luminous flux and efficacy for indoor lighting applications. The first DURIS S5 LED version, with a forward voltage of 6V, is optimized to provide the highest brightness from the small surface area. The second version is designed for high efficacy (achieving 125 lm/W at 65 mA with 24 lm at 3000 K) therefore making it ideal for use in panel luminaires and linear retrofits where individual light points should not be visible and where low energy consumption is an important consideration. The third version has only a slightly lower efficacy and is designed for optimum system costs. Versatile DURIS S5 LEDs can be used in a wide variety of applications: Indoor general lighting, industrial lighting, linear lights, down lights and retro-fit lighting in locations such as: Offices, hotel lobbies and museums. The square footprint and small light-emitting surface can be clustered tightly for compact arrangement thus allowing the light to be efficiently coupled into secondary lenses and reflectors.
