Overview

Molex's CAT 3 modular jacks are suitable for 100Base-T (Fast Ethernet) applications while CAT 5e jacks support the high-speed performance requirements of Gigabit Ethernet applications. Right-angle modular jacks with lightpipes replace typical light emitting diode (LED) modular jacks and lower the electrical noise found in these LED jacks. Inverted (top latch) modular jacks allow for easy mating and unmating. Various soldering processes are accommodated by either surface-mount or through-hole versions and shielding is available on many jacks to prevent electro magnetic interference (EMI). Molex right-angle jacks fit a variety of design applications with numerous mounting and port size options including flanged, flangeless, flush mount, single port, ganged and stacked multi-port.

Plating options include all-gold (Au) or palladium nickel (PdNi) with a gold (Au) flash. PdNi + Au flash-plated modular jacks achieve superior durability at a lower cost than gold-plated equivalents. Having successfully passed testing to meet the new requirements of IEC60603-7 PL 2, PdNi+Au flash modular jacks achieve 2500 mating cycles compared with all-gold plated modular jacks that achieve just 750 cycles.
